Below are updates and information about the newest happenings, special deals and events blooming on the Garden Isle of Kaua i this summer season. WHAT S NEW Līhu e to Receive Direct Service from Dallas/Fort Worth American Airlines recently announced direct, nonstop service to Līhu e from the Lone Star State of Texas. Seasonal service out of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is slated to launch in December and continue through March 2018, just in time for Hawai i whale-watching season. Direct flights to the Garden Island like this one make Destination Kaua i even more accessible for prospective, first-time and returning visitors. United Airlines Celebrates Its 70 th Anniversary in Hawai i with Additional Service to the Islands United Airlines will increase service from various mainland U.S. hubs to Hawai i beginning on December 20. For Kaua i, Līhu e Airport will welcome daily, year-round service from Denver, Colorado, a route previously offered only seasonally. Kaua i flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco, California will also increase to two flights daily. The additional Hawai i flights arrive as United marks its 70 th anniversary of service to the Aloha State. Coming this summer, premium cabin customers on all overnight flights between Hawai i and Chicago, Illinois; Houston, Texas; Denver, New York/Newark and Washington, D.C., will enjoy 180-degree flatbed seats with custom-designed duvets and pillows provided by leading luxury specialty store and New York-based retailer Saks Fifth Avenue for a more relaxing and sleepenhancing flight. Kaua i Adventure Company Introduces State s Longest Zip Line Outfitters Kauai, one of Hawai i s first adventure tour providers, recently debuted the state s longest zip line and tallest launching pad. Spanning 4,000 feet in length and launching from a 50-foot-high launch pad, the FlyLine zip line features two side-by-side lines providing an intense, high-speed flight with breathtaking scenery beneath Hinaiuka peak and other towering peaks of the Hā upu mountain range. Located on Kīpu Ranch, the zip line showcases

The resort has raised more than $400,000 for various charitable programs since opening in For more information, visit Sheraton Kauai Charity Program Benefits Hawai i Hospital for Women and Children In April, Sheraton Kauai Resort announced the launch of a new charity program benefitting Children s Miracle Network member hospital Kapi olani Medical Center for Women and Children. Proceeds from rentals of one of the resort s eight private poolside bungalows overlooking the resort s Ocean Pool and beachfront will be given to the O ahu medical center. Renamed the Children s Miracle Bungalow, it may be rented in advance by resort guests and the public for a minimum $150 donation. Fifth Annual Waipā Music and Mango Festival, August 13 The Waipā Foundation will present its fifth annual Music and Mango Festival on August 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the nonprofit s Halulu Fishpond on Kaua i s north shore. The fest promises a relaxing day of live homegrown music, hands-on activities, local artisans and crafts, and Kaua i chefs and food vendors offering up tasty food inspired by the area s summer mango harvest. Lawai International Center Pilgrimage of Compassion, August 13 The Lawai International Center welcomes everyone to its 17th annual Pilgrimage of Compassion, set for August 13, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The program will celebrate the center s longtime Lāwai Valley healing sanctuary, and feature grand master-level shakuhachi flutist Riley Lee and drumbeats by members of Taiko Kaua i. The day s events will also include a bonsai exhibit, ikebana and calligraphy demos, bake sale, silent auction, mochi and taro pounding, and cultural and culinary demonstrations. Lawai International Center is a volunteerdriven nonprofit, nondenominational community project and international center focused on compassion, education and cultural understanding. The Kaua i Marathon, September 3 Avid runners rejoice! The ninth annual Kaua i Marathon and Half-Marathon will send participants past hula dancers and taiko drum troupes as its USA Track and Field-certified course traces the scenic landscape of the island s south shore. Along the way, participants will take in magnificent views of the area s picturesque beaches, rugged volcanic peaks and lush tropical rainforests. Runners completing the course will do so at one of the most beautiful oceanfront finish lines in road racing. The mission of the Mālie Foundation is offering events designed to educate, promote, preserve and perpetuate the Hawaiian culture through a variety of activities for all people.
